Dr. Mieun Lee

Pianist Mieun Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, and received her master and doctoral degrees with honor from the University of Texas at Austin where she was an accompanying assistant, and bachelor's degree in Seoul National University. Dr Lee also attended Boston Conservatory Summer Seminar, Manchester Chamber Music Festival, and Brevard Summer Institute and Music Festival where she was a teaching assistant. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has studied with and has been coached by renowned artists and pedagogues such as Nancy Garrett, Leson Fleisher, Russell Sherman, James Dick, James Giles, Jon Kimura Parker, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sylvia Rosenberg, Michel Arrignon, Gerhardt Starke, and Anne Epperson.

Her performances include appearances as a guest artist at Texas A&M Steinway Piano Series in Laredo, Green Recital Series in Kansas, and Texas A&M in Kingsville. Dr Lee also performed as a soloist with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra at Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium in North Carolina, and with the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra.

She won several competitions including the Brevard Music Center Concerto Competition, UT Concerto Competition, Sydney M. Wright Accompanying Competition, and Brevard Piano Competition. She joined Staff Pianist at Sam Houston State University in 2009. Previously, she had been a faculty member at Texas A&M International University and Kay-Won Arts High School. In addition, she was a staff pianist at Meadowmount School of Music in New York and Victoria Symphony Orchestra.
