Profile of Dr. Kyle Kindred

Kyle Kindred (b. 1978) is currently Assistant Professor of Theory and Composition at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. His works have been performed by the US Navy Band, the US 323rd Army Band, the St. Louis Wind Symphony, the University of Michigan Concert Band, and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble, conducted by Jack Stamp, at venues such as the 2000 National Bandmasters Association Convention, the 2001 Missouri Music Educators Association Convention, and The House of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kindred co-wrote the score for the short animated film “Cough, Cold, and High Fever,” featured at the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival and screened and broadcast around the world as part of the Live Earth Concerts for a Climate in Crisis. Kindred has been invited to write an essay for GIA’s Composers on Composing for Band, Volume 4, due out in December of 2008.
