Chorale

SHSU Chorale

Chorale, the premiere choral ensemble at Sam Houston State University, consists of the top singers and musicians from across the campus. The choir explores a wide variety of repertoire including Renaissance motets, Baroque gems such as Handel's Coronation Anthems, works by Romantic masters such as Brahms and Bruckner, and contemporary compositions from America and Scandinavia. This nationally recognized ensemble has been selected to perform as an honor choir at the Southwestern American Choral Director's Association Convention in Little Rock, Arkansas in March 2014. Additional recent convention invitations include performances at the American Choral Directors Association (2007), the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association (2010), and the Texas Music Educators Association (2010). A recent tour to Italy (2007) was received with rave reviews. Chorale singers are primarily upper-classmen who are pursuing a degree in music, and a handful of non-music majors.
