The Master of Arts in Mathematics Education

The Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics at Sam Houston State University is a non-thesis program, consisting of 36 semester hours.  It is primarily designed for those who will specialize in mathematics teaching at the pre-university, or possibly two-year college, level.

Core courses are taught on campus in Huntsville, as well as at remote sites, such as The University Center in Conroe, through Interactive Television (ITV). Some elective courses are also offered via ITV or online formats.

Requirements for Admission:

     - a bachelor's degree
     - mathematics courses equivalent to a mathematics minor at SHSU
     - an application to the Office of Graduate Studies
     - official undergraduate transcripts
     - official GRE scores
     - three lettes of recommendation

Cohorts at local schools:  Ten students are required for SHSU faculty to teach courses on-site. If this number is not reached, students may still pursue an MA degree by taking courses via ITV, online, or on the SHSU campus in Huntsville.
