The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Sam Houston State University consists of three programs:

-- Mathematics, offering the BS and MS degrees
-- Statistics, offering the MS degree
-- Mathematics Education, offering the BS, BA and MA degrees

Department Spotlight

SHSU is a family tradition! Recent graduate Tatiana Kovyrshina followed her mother's footsteps to earn a B.S. in Mathematics. Her mother Svetlana Steich earned her B.S. in Mathematics Education and her M.S. in Statistics from SHSU. Svetlana now teaches Mathematics at Paris Junior College, while Tatiana pursuesher Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the University of Texas School of Public Health.
