The University of Texas - Pan American

We are proud to announce that we have seven new additions to our UTPA team for the 2008-2009 year. The following new members are:

Dr. Ramendra K. Bose, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1973. His research expertise includes pure and applied mathematics, functional analysis, and fixed point theory. He has published 25 research papers in refereed journals of mathematics, and previously directed two Ph.D. dissertations and several master’s theses at various universities in India;

Dr. Eleftherios Gkioulekas, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington in 2006. His research expertise includes applied mathematics, dynamical systems, and turbulence. He has published eight research papers in applied mathematics and the mathematical theory of turbulence;

Dr. Virgil Pierce, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 2004. His research expertise includes applied mathematics, random matrices, complex analysis, and integrable systems. He has published seven research papers in applied mathematics and functional analysis, and received a Young Investigator Award form the National Security Administration (NSA);

Dr. Mrinal Kanti Roychowdhury, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Mathematics from Weslayan University in 2005. His research expertise includes applied mathematics, dynamical systems, and fractals. He has published six research papers in high quality refereed journals;

Dr. George Yanev, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of South Florida in 2001. His research expertise includes statistics, applied mathematics and probability. He has published sixteen research papers in statistics, branching stochastic processes, and biostatistics journals;

Dr. Timothy John Huber, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2007. He has published 7 refereed research papers in mathematics and number theory in refereed journals of mathematics. His research areas include Mathematical Analysis, Number Theory and Combinatorics. He is at present working as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University from 2007. He taught several undergraduate courses both at the University of Illinois and Iowa State; and,

Dr. Sean Dodd Lawton, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 2006. He has published five high quality research papers in Algebraic Geometry. His research areas include Modern Algebra, Geometry, Lie Groups and Algebraic Geometry. He has one paper published in AMS Transactions and one paper accepted at Math Annalen. He is presently teaching at Mathematics Department of the University of Maryland.
