Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference

General Information

Goals of the Conference

  • Provide undergraduates a forum in which to present mathematical research or exposition
  • Allow the students to see an address by a well-known mathematician
  • Provide undergraduates with information about graduate school and careers in the mathematical sciences
  • Provide students with an opportunity to interact with like-minded students and faculty members, thereby introducing them to the mathematical community

Structure of the Conference

Students will be invited to present research in a fifteen minute talk. The student presentations will be held in parallel sessions during morning and afternoon. Prior to lunch, students will be welcomed and will attend a plenary talk given by a well-known mathematician. The afternoon will culminate with a panel discussion of an issue pertinant to undergraduates interested in the mathematical sciences.

Support Available for Participants

The Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference is committed to the participation of all interested students. We will be able to offer some support for expenses. Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to participate and to apply for support.
