Homework:

Homework will be assigned each day in class. Homework will not be collected. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ask questions about homework problems which you were not able to complete or did not understand. It is your responsibility to come to office hours, or to otherwise contact me for help. This can be done via e-mail, and I will try to answer questions as clearly as I can via e-mail. It is also your responsibility to do as many problems from each section as you need to in order to feel comfortable with the material. You are welcome to come by my office to use the answer key to check your work on assigned or unassigned problems.

Quizzes

There will be quizzes two times per week except during exam weeks. Quizzes will be short and will take place during the first 10-15 minutes of class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The quiz problems will cover material lectured on and homework assigned since the last quiz. Most quiz questions will be very similar to homework assigned. There are no make-up quizzes, so do not be late. To compensate for this, the two lowest quiz scores will be dropped.

Exams

There will be two exams during the term. They will be on:
Thursday, 20 February, 2003
and Thursday, 27 March, 2003
There are no make-ups.

Final Exam: Tuesday, May 13th from 8:00 am - 10:00 am

The final exam will be cumulative.

Attendance:

You are expected to attend every class. The lectures will loosely follow the text. Many examples and explanations. Attendence is essential. I reserve the right to have in-class worksheets unannounced which will count as homework scores.

Course grade is based on:

Quizzes 20%
Exam 1 25%
Exam 2 25%
Final Exam 30%

Grades assigned via following table

90 - 100% A
