Simultaneous Membership Program
The basic idea of the Simultaneous
Membership Program is that it allows you to combine service in
the Army National Guard or Army Reserve with college ROTC. When
you graduate, you'll be commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the
National Guard or Reserve. If you qualify and a vacancy is available,
you enlist in an Army Guard or Reserve unit and attend basic training.
With the approval of the Professor of Military
Science (PMS), the SMP will enable you to enroll in the ROTC Advanced
Course at your college. You attend a few hours of ROTC instruction
each week, and train with your Guard or Reserve unit one weekend
a month and two weeks during the summer. Between your junior and
senior year in Army ROTC, you will attend The National Advanced
Leadership Camp.
If you are already a member of the Army National
Guard or Reserve, you may apply for SMP through your commanding
officer.
If you have already completed one or two years
of college, you can still enter the program and take advantage
of its benefits for your remaining two or three undergraduate years
