MSG Chitwood Biography

 

 

     MSG Chitwood is a native of Salem, Missouri and has distinguished himself during 21 years of military service.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 28 July 1992 – 29 July 1996 and was part of a Marine Corps Special Operations Unit, F.A.S.T.  Company “Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team.”  He enlisted in the Army on 1 April 1997 as an Infantry Mortarman.

 

     MSG Chitwood’s duty assignments include HHC, 1/12 CAV, Fort Hood, TX; HHC, 2/12 CAV, Fort Hood, TX; Charlie Co., 2/27 IN BN, Schofield Barracks, HI; Alpha Co., 1/87 IN BN, Fort Drum, NY; Delta, 2/29 IN BN, OSUT, Fort Benning, GA;  Lightning Troop, 3/3 ACR, Fort Hood, TX. and deployed six (6) times during his tenure in the Army. 

 

     MSG Chitwood’s military and civilian education include the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Infantry Mortar Platoon Leader Course, Total Army Instructor Training Course, the Technical transportation of Hazardous materials course, Combat Life Savers course, Battlefield forensics course, Company Intelligence Support Team course, Basic Security Guard course and he is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science.

 

     MSG Chitwood’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award),  Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 campaigns), Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal,  Armed Forces Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award,  Valorous Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Nato Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Expert Infantry Badge and the Combat Infantry Badge.

 

     MSG Chitwood has held every leadership position from Team Leader to First Sergeant; he is married and has children.
