Mission

Multicultural Student Services (M.S.S.), established in 1993, provides support for and enhances the Sam Houston State University college experience for all students, although particular attention is given to underrepresented students (based on culture, gender, physical ability, race, religion, and sexual orientation).  M.S.S. brings diversity education and entertaining cultural programs to college students, faculty, as well as to the residents of Huntsville, Texas and beyond.  The office also promotes the academic growth, personal development, and leadership skills of underrepresented students at Sam Houston State University.

Goals

• Provide services and unique programming for traditionally underrepresented populations on campus.
• Educate students to understand what diversity truly means and give students the knowledge and training required to promote social justice in all areas of diversity, including culture, gender, physical ability, race, religion, and sexual orientation.
• Encourage an appreciation for and celebration of diversity in all of its unique forms
