This is a nifty PowerPoint Trick if you have Inspiration software as well:

1.  Create an Inspiration Web as you normally would do in the Diagram View. I made a sample one:

2. Now switch to Outline View. Mine looked like this:

• Send students on a quest for a good picture using digital cameras. On a nice day, go outside. Or, stay indoors or even within the classroom.
• Students should take one picture each of objects that interests them or capture their imaginations.
• Back in class, write an ode, following this pattern:
• First line=Name of object
• Following line=Phrases describing object. ((Where has it existed?  What are its qualities?

To what can it be compared? What has changed it?)
• Last line=Statement beginning with "Give me" or "Teach me"
• Example:
Maple leaf,
Denizen of the skies
Now trodden underfoot.
Teach me humility.
