Idea

Translate into a tentatively proposed set of activities

Search for sponsors who might be interested
  1. If sponsor found, go to 6th step
  2. If no sponsor found, reformulate proect, retaining own goals but including
those of potential sponsor Selection of one or a few sponsors as prime targets

Selection of and possible contact with target sponsor

File "Intent to Submit" card, if required

Firm up activities and design study bearing sponsor proram goals in mind

Estimate cost, including overhead, and compare with likely sponsor support

If cost estimate and likely sponsor support represent a good match, prepare a

proposal to sponsor's specifications, providing the best fit to your goals and

evaluation process
  1. If costs are too low, possibly take advantage of slack to improve study design
  2. If costs are too high, adjust activities to reduce them
Submit proposal for consideration

Success or rejection; regarding the latter, resubmit or pick new target sponsor

or try new idea
