Graduate Programs




The graduate programs in the Technology Program are designed to provide advanced training for professional and managerial positions in teaching and occupations related to Industry. The curriculum is organized to permit advanced study and research in Industrial Technology.
Authorized degree programs are: Master of Arts degree with a major in Industrial Technology and a Master of Arts degree with a major in Industrial Education.

Master of Arts, Plan I. This degree is designed primarily for prospective college and secondary school teachers. Students selecting this plan may complete a minimum of twelve semester hours in the major field and twelve semester hours in a minor field. A six-hour thesis in the major field is required for the thirty-hour program. Twelve semester hours in the major field may be substituded for the thesis.
Master of Arts, Plan II. This degree is designed to designed to provide training for professional and managerial positions in industry. A student selecting this plan may complete twenty-four hours in Technology and twelve hours in supporting field approved by his/her academic advisor. A thesis may be elected for a thirty-hour program.

All 400 level courses (except IT 490) will be offered for graduate credit upon the consent of the student's academic advisor. The student may apply a maximum of 6 hours of 400 level courses toward the master's degree.

Admission Requirements: Prospective students must submit to the Coordinator of Graduate studies, an application, official transcript(s) of all previous college work, and a current Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score. Admission to graduate studies in the Technology Program is dependent upon the candidate satisfying at least one of the following two graduate admission formulas:

Admission Formulas

200 X (overall GPA) + (GRE score) = 1300
200 X (advanced hours GPA) + (GRE score) = 1350

The grade point average (GPA) is based on a four-point scale and is derived from courses applied to the baccalaureate degree. Applicants without an acceptable background in technology must complete 12 hours of undergraduate stem work earning a minimum GPA of 3.0.
