The Texas Regional Center for Policing Innovation (TRCPI) at Sam Houston State University was founded in 1997 by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) in the U.S. Department of Justice, and has been delivering high-quality, TCLEOSE-qualified training to law enforcement throughout the State of Texas for the past decade.

We are proud to report that, to date, we have trained 16,793 participants (135,416 training hours). One of our special mandates was to reach out to small, rural and underserved agencies—a goal we have met and exceeded! Our geographically scattered trainings have included participants from 234 of the 254 counties in Texas which comprise 99.7 percent of the total population of Texas.

Given our successful and well-received training history, it is with a great deal of regret we announce that, due to funding constraints, TRCPI will now be delivering training on a request-only basis. Because of limited funding and the cost associated with providing on-site trainings, we are no longer able to hold classes with fewer than 25-35 participants.

Nonetheless, we will continue to strive to meet your department’s training needs if possible. If your agency (or group of agencies) would like us to bring a training to your area, please don’t hesitate to contact us. To see the TCLEOSE-qualified trainings that TRCPI continues to offer at no-cost to law enforcement, take a look at our course descriptions available by clicking on the “Course Descriptions” tab. As always, feel free to contact us by phone (936) 294-3747, fax (936) 438-8175, or email at: trcpi@shsu.edu

We look forward to continuing to serve Texas’ law enforcement and meeting the training needs of agencies state-wide!
