Dr. Friel holds the rank of Distinguished Professor in the College of Criminal Justice where he previously served as Dean. His undergraduate work at Maryknoll College included studies in philosophy and Latin, and he received a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the Catholic University of America in Washington DC. His areas of expertise included statistics, research methodology, and information systems applications in criminal justice.
