TITLE: Construction Manager HIRING SALARY: $3,846 - $6,516/Month

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical field.  Seven (7) years experience in managing projects with increasing level of responsibility in design and construction of multiple, concurrent projects involving large and complex institutional facilities.  Senior level experience in planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, design and construction management. Or a combination of education, experience and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities.

NATURE & PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As on-site representative, oversees design and field construction phases of large, multi-million dollar building projects.  Ensures projects are delivered in accordance with the design drawings and specifications as well as on schedule and within budget.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with project planning committees and programming firms to develop acceptable scope of work, budget and schedule.   Works with the architects, engineers, project managers, and users during the design phase, reviews drawings and specifications at all phases of design, communicates deficiencies back to the project manager.  Reviews cost estimates, budgets and schedules as developed.  Provides support to the project manager during the bidding phase.  During construction, monitors daily construction progress, performs inspections, and maintains daily logs of site activity.  Prepares weekly progress reports.  Participates in monthly construction update meetings with contractor, architect, SHSU Facilities Planning staff and building users.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS:

May work hours other than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday as scheduled or when “called out” by emergency.  Must have driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier and must have a valid Texas Drivers License.  Must have good oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to use Microsoft Office programs, scheduling software such as Primivara and drafting programs.  Must have working knowledge of construction related documents, building codes, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other regulatory requirements related to buildings or building systems.   Performs other related duties as assigned.
