EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field and Police Certification. Five (5) years professional management experience in an administrative function with University Police, or related experience in law enforcement. Or a combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities.
NATURE & PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To be responsible for administrative and supervisory duties of the department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for supervisory and managerial duties such as planning, organizing, leading, directing, controlling all operational activities under his command. Checks for adherence to performance standards, appearance, and conduct of subordinates. Responsible for advice, counsel, and instructions concerning routine and unusual phases of assigned duties. Evaluates, recommends and suggest the performance of subordinates. Plans and conducts in service training programs, explains new laws, policies and procedures. May have various reports to complete. Assists in the recruitment, interviews, and pre-employment investigation of new personnel. Maintains liaison with local police, judges and other related agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
OTHER SPECIFICATIONS:
Various contacts with off campus agencies, state and local law enforcement agencies, vendors and courts.
