Degree Requirements:
Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business or closely related discipline.
Experience Requirements:
Teaching Experience at the university/college level preferred. Proven research competency and a strong service oriented desire.
Environment:
The Agribusiness program has 190+ majors and 90+ minors and offers 15 different agribusiness courses. The Department of Agricultural and Industrial Sciences has 21 full and part-time faculty, approximately 1000 majors and offers the Bachelor of Science degree in ten emphasis areas along with the Master of Science in Agriculture, Master of Arts in Industrial Technology and supports the MBA in Agribusiness degree. The department maintains the Agriculture Center, Industrial Technology Center, Horticulture Center and the Gibbs Ranch. The Gibbs Ranch is a 1,740 acre ranch operation that includes operational enterprises of commercial cattle, registered Angus & Brangus cattle and a goat herd.
Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The university has an enrollment of approximately 16,400 and a faculty of 650.
Usual Duties:
Applicant should be capable of providing undergraduate and graduate instruction in agricultural economics and agribusiness with the possibility of partial assignment to other agricultural disciplines, depending upon the needs of the department and academic strengths of the individual. Research in the area of specialization is expected along with service to professional, producer, industry and student groups.
Primary teaching and research responsibilities will be in the discipline of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness.
Salary:
$55,000 - 65,000 (9 month)
