Position:

Assistant/Full Professor - Tenure Track

Degree Requirements:

Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or related academic field. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with the rank of appointment.

Experience Requirements:

Assistant professor candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda, and the potential for, or a record of, funded research activity, commitment to quality teaching and mentoring of students, and teaching competencies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. All areas of specialization will be considered.

In addition to a commitment to quality teaching, candidates for the senior-level professor position should be established scholars with a sustained record of quality publication and an ongoing research agenda. The scholar hired for this position will be expected to contribute substantially to the College’s research productivity as well as train and mentor advanced graduate students.

Environment:

Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between the Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The university has an enrollment of approximately 16,400 students and a faculty of 650.

Usual Duties:

The College offers a Ph.D. in criminal justice as well as a B.A., B.S., M.A., and M.S. in criminal justice. The College also offers degrees in victim studies, forensic science, and security studies.
