Position:
Associate or Full Professor/Chair
Degree Requirements:
Ph.D. in Geography or in a related field.
Experience Requirements:
Must have a relevant record of administrative experience and have demonstrated excellence in teaching, service and scholarship. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in geospatial technology, preferably a mix of GIS, remote sensing, computer cartography and visualization or other geospatial technologies, to support a master of Applied Geospatial Technology degree.
Environment:
Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between the Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The university has an enrollment of approximately 16,400 students and a faculty of 650.
Usual Duties:
Provide leadership to further develop an outstanding department, strengthen existing degree programs, and implement and manage the Master of Applied Geospatial Technology. The individual will be expected to maintain excellence publication and teaching. Position requires administrative duties and a teaching load of 5 courses per year at the undergraduate level.
*Three month extended contract for summer.
