Position:

Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

Degree Requirements:

Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business or closely related discipline.

Experience Requirements:

Teaching experience at the university/college level preferred, proven research competency and a strong service orientation desired.

Environment:

Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between the Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The university has an enrollment of approximately 16,400 students and a faculty of 650.

Usual Duties:

Candidate should be capable of providing undergraduate and graduate instruction in agricultural economics and agribusiness with the possibility of partial assignment to other agricultural disciplines, depending upon the needs of the department and academic strengths of the individual. Research in the area of specialization is expected along with service to professional, producer, industry and student groups. Seventy five percent teaching, twenty five percent research appointment with service activities required for promotion, merit pay increases and tenure. Primary teaching and research responsibilities will be in the discipline of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness.
