Degree Requirements:
M.F.A. or Ph.D. in Dance
Experience Requirements:
Professional performing experience, portfolio of professional choreographic activities, and/or university teaching experience preferred.
Environment:
Sam Houston State is located in historic Huntsville, one quarter of the way from Houston to Dallas, at the boundary between the Piney Woods region of East Texas and the Prairies and Lakes region of Central Texas. The university has an enrollment of approximately 16,400 students and a faculty of 650.
Usual Duties:
Teach; Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Tap and Musical Theatre Dance. Ability to teach courses from the following also helpful: Ballet, Hip Hop, Folk and Social, World Dance Forms, Laban Movement Analysis, Somatics, Dance as Art, Dance History, Criticism and Analysis, Pedagogy, Dance Technology or other ares of performance and academic support.
Choreograph for dance concerts, assist with dance productions, & advise students. Serve on graduate thesis committees, serve on departmental, college and university committees and administrative duties as needed.
Salary:
$36,000 - 41,000 (9 month)
