Dr. Jose A.
Santiago came to Sam Houston State University after serving for two and half
years as the Elementary Health and Physical Education Manager for the Houston
Independent School District. He taught elementary physical education at
Benavidez Elementary School in Houston ISD from 2001-2007. He also served as an
assistant women’s volleyball coach at Rice University in Houston from 1996-2001.
A puertorrican native, Dr. Santiago played volleyball for the University of
Puerto Rico and the National Club League. His area of specialization is
Curriculum and Instruction in Physical Education.
