Welcome Message Welcome to my homepage. I am currently in my third year as faculty in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at SHSU. I earned my doctoral degree from Texas Southern University with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in 2008. Prior to SHSU I served for two and a half years as the elementary Health and Physical Education Coordinator in Houston Independent School District. I also taught elementary physical education at Roy P. Benavidez Elementary School in Houston ISD from 2001-2007 and served as an assistant women’s volleyball coach at Rice University in Houston from 1996-2001. In addition to my professional pursuits, I played volleyball for the University of Puerto Rico men’s varsity team and the Puerto Rico National Club League. My area of specialization is Curriculum and Instruction in Physical Education. My research focuses on physical education teacher content knowledge.
