Director of Residence Life
Joellen Newman Tipton has final responsibility for the entire department. She serves as the official representative of the department on various University committees and is responsible for developing the annual department budget. All official departmental policies, procedures and publications are developed with the assistance and approval of the Director. Additional responsibilities include direct supervision of the professional staff in the central office and coordination of major projects such as renovations. Business & Operations
Dana Grant is responsible for most departmental financial functions, including budgeting and financial statements, receipts, and deposits. Additionally, she coordinates the marketing, vending, and technology needs for the department. She is the liaison with the Enrollment Management and Vending departments. Student Development
Kimberly Baechtel handles administrative duties related to the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of the residence life staff, which includes coordinators, resident managers, apartment managers and resident advisors. She is responsible for residence hall staff in the areas of academic development, and programming. She also directly supervises each of the three Coordinators. Facilities and Maintenance
Ron Pettitt is responsible for new construction, safety/security, furniture, and property inventory, and all maintenance issues related to University housing. He supervises the full-time housing maintenance staff as well as the student maintenance staff. In addition, Ron is the liaison with the University's custodial company. Staff Coordinator
Jessica Truscott-Zuckero is responsible for administrative duties related to the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of the residence halls staff, which includes resident managers and resident advisors, and is also responsible for the recognition and events for employees. Discipline Coordinator
Wayne Bennett is responsible for administrative duties related to student discipline, video surveillance, vandalism, damage appeals, and the residence halls handbook. Programming Coordinator
Tina Kuo is responsible for administrative duties related to the guest housing in the Summer, coordinates programming for the department, and directly oversees the HHAC and RHA programs, as well as the White Hall Resource and Training Area. Office Coordinator
Mary Thaler is responsible for the residence hall application and assignment processes and supervises a staff of four clerks and four student assistants who are responsible for the receipting, processing, filing, and scanning of all student records. Her staff also processes all of the department's contracts (housing, meal plans, private room agreements, and Bearkat Express).
