NEW STUDENTS
October 1 – Housing Application Opensto new students who have been admitted to Sam Houston State University. At this time, only the Personal and Contact Details, Medical Information, Questionnaire, and Contract tabs are available.
All housing information and notifications will be sent to the students’ SHSU email account.
Room Selection
Each student’s timeslot has a unique date and time dependent on when the housing application deposit was paid.
First round: Anyone who applies October 1 through the first week in November.
Second round: Anyone who applies during the second week in November through the third week in November
Room Swap
Once a student has a housing assignment, this tab will be available to monitor other open spaces. Through this tab a student can “swap” their room assignment.
November 30 – Self Select Ends - Room selection for the Spring term will close at 5 pm on November 30. Applicants applying after that date will be assigned by the Residence Life Department.

Room Swap
Once a student has a housing assignment, this tab will be available to monitor other open spaces. Through this tab a student can “swap” their room assignment.
May 9 – Self Select Ends - Room selection for the Summer term will close at 5 pm. Applicants applying after that date will be assigned by the Residence Life Department.

March 1 - Roommate Selection Opens - Students who have applied for housing may search for a roommate. The following conditions must exist before a roommate request can be honored: (1) both students must have a completed housing application on file for the same term, (2) both students must have provided evidence of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination, (3) both students must request and confirm each other online and (4) during room selection a double occupancy room must exist.
Confirming Roommates: When two students request each other as roommates and have applied at separate times, the web self assign timeslot of the roommate pair will be based upon the average housing application date of both students. Either student can go into the system at this time to select a room. Applicants should be aware that if their requested roommate does not confirm their request online or cancels their application, they will be assigned a web self assign timeslot based upon their individual application date.
Roommate requests are not guaranteed and it is the student's responsibility to ensure that when selecting a room, if they have a confirmed roommate request, that the roommate is also placed in the room. Requesting a roommate after you have chosen a room will not automatically pull the person into that room.

Third round: Anyone who applies June 2 – July 1 who has Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination verification on file at the SHSU Health Center. Each student’s timeslot has a unique date and time dependent on when the housing application deposit was paid (as well as verification of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination with the SHSU Health Center) and whether or not a confirmed roommate is on file.
July 26, – Self Select Ends - Room Changes for the 2014-2015 Academic Year will close at 5 pm on July 12. Applicants applying after that date will be assigned by the Residence Life Department.
RETURNING STUDENTS
February 1 – Housing Application Opens to returning students who wish to live on-campus for the Summer Term. At this time, only the Personal and Contact Details, Medical information, Questionnaire, Roommate Selection and Contract tabs are available. All housing information and notifications will be sent to the students’ SHSU email account.
February 1 - Roommate Selection Opens - Students who have applied for housing may search for a roommate. The following conditions must exist before a roommate request can be honored: (1) both students must have a completed housing application on file for the same term, (2) both students must have provided evidence of Bacterial Meningitis vaccination, (3) both students must request and confirm each other online and (4) during room selection a double occupancy room must exist.
Returning students may search and confirm other returning students to be their roommates through the MySam Housing Portal from February 1 – March 25. This will ensure that the roommate pair will be able to renew to any available space on March 26 when general room selection opens.
Roommate requests are not guaranteed and it is the student's responsibility to ensure that when selecting a room, if they have a confirmed roommate request, that the roommate is also placed in the room. Requesting a roommate after you have chosen a room will not automatically pull the person into that room.

March 17-18 – Renew current bed. At this time, returning students may renew their current bed for the next academic year. This process closes at 5 pm on March 26.
March 26 General Room Selection begins for returning students for any available space on-campus. Students who have confirmed roommates will be able to pull the roommate into an empty room.

April 1—General Room Selection ends. Students who have selected a room can swap their room until May 10. All other students who have not selected a room and still wish to live on-campus will be placed on a “non guarantee” waiting list.
