The requirements for admission to the Elliott T. Bowers

Honors College are as follows:

 

• For incoming freshmen: you must have one of the following criteria:
• SAT composite score of 1200 or above
• ACT composite of at least 27
• Graduated in the top 10 percent of your high school class

 

• For current SHSU students or Transfer students:
• be classified as a freshman or sophomore
• have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.4

 

If you are not a freshman or sophomore, please contact the Dean of Honors at (936) 294-1477 or Honors@shsu.edu concerning your eligibility.

 

If you feel that you might be eligible for the College, but your standardized test scores fall below the minimum requirements, you are encouraged to apply. SAT and ACT scores are only one of the requirements considered during the selection process. You may want to include an explanation outlining why you believe that you would be a successful Honors student.
