Fall 2013 Admission Deadline is May 31st

 

To apply for admission to the Honors College, Incoming Freshmen students must submit the following:

 

1. The application form
2. Your official transcript from your high school.
   
3. Two recommendation letters from your high school teachers with current knowledge of your academic performance and motivation. (You are more than welcome to send in additional letters from others but the above two are mandatory.)
4. Your 500-1000 word essay describing an incident, person, or book which has had an important influence on your life. See example: Essay format for Application
5. Résumé See example: Essay format for Résumé

 

To apply for admission to the Honors College, Transfer or Current SHSU students

must submit the following:

 

1. The application form
2. Your official transcript(s) from each college/university where you have received college credit.
   
3. Two recommendation letters from two of your college professors (from the most recent college you attended) with current knowledge of your academic performance and motivation. (You are more than welcome to send in additional letters from others but the above two are mandatory.)
4. Your 500-1000 word essay describing an incident, person, or book which has had an important influence on your life. See example: Essay format for Application
5. Résumé-See example: Essay format for Résumé

 

The documents may be sent by mail, email, faxed (936-294-1090), or dropped by our office in ABIV Room 201.

Note: If you have already sent transcripts or test scores to the University, you do not need to re-send them to the Honors College. However, you can expedite the processing of your application to the Honors College by submitting unofficial copies of your transcripts directly to the Honors College. We will verify that your official transcripts have been received by the University Office of Admissions and process your application more quickly.
