History 369: The World Since1914
Personalties the 20th Century
Six films dealing with Personalities of the Twentieth Century will be presented during the semester. Attendance or proof of viewing (rental receipt) and a one-to-two-page review essay will be worth 20 points per movie. One of the films can be dropped. Students can accumulate up to 100 points. Since one of the six film viewings and reveiews will be dropped, no film late review will be accepted.

1) What are your impressions of the film?2) How does the film relate to the primary and secondary sources on the topic?
3) What point of view the film represent? (in other words, what are the film-makers trying to say?)
4) What does it contribute to your understanding of the historyof the Second World War?
Rate the film on a scale of 1 to 10.
- 10=Outstanding
- 9=Very good
- 8=good
- 7=satisfactory
- 6=needs improvement
- 5=bad
- 4=very bad
- 3 and below=awful

Evaluation Criteria for Each Review Essay 1. Coverage (Are all of the general questions addressed and answered in effective manner? Have you presented your own view as well as those of the film or sources?).-----10 POINTS 2. Content (Are both the film and sources used effectively in writing the review essay? Are opinions substantiated with evidence from the film and/or sources? Are all terms, events, people and other items are adequately defined?).-----20 POINTS 3. Organization and Form (Is your answers composed in a clear and logical manner? Are your points made in a logical sequence manner which enhances your general argument? Have you maintained regular margins, font and form?).-----10 POINTS 4. Writing and Mechanics (Have you written your review in proper English , addressing it to a prospective audience of educated lay people? Have you followed the fundamentals of paragraphing, sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation?
