The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences encourages student participation in study abroad programs! A variety of options exists! First of all, students may look to the Office of International Programs for opportunities. Recently, students have studied in Costa Rica, Spain, France, and Australia through the Office of International Programs. Another option has to do with internship; students may complete their internship in an international setting; fashion merchandising majors have worked in Paris and Ireland, and a recent food service management major completed his internship in Florence, Italy. Dr. Browning-Keen is working with the Costa Rica Field School to design a program especially geared toward exploring farming, food preservation and distribution, as well as food security in that beautiful tropical setting. In conjunction with the Department of Chemistry, Dr. White and Dr. Browning-Keen are involved in the May-mester course "Discoveries in Chemistry and Textiles." As a department, we value and support these international experiences for our students!
