Food Service Management
The Food Service Management Program at SHSU was established over 30 years ago, which emphasizes the business aspects of food service, including quantity food purchasing, production and service, as well as safety and sanitation. As part of the program, students complete a 300-hour internship with a quantity food production facility such as a restaurant or a health care facility. Recent internship locations have included Disney, hospitals in the Texas Medical Center, and various restaurants ranging from IHOP to Saltgrass Steakhouse. Program participants will have the option to pursue the Bachelor of Arts degree (with a foreign language component) or Bachelor of Science (with additional math and science requirements) degree during their studies.
