Description
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) graduate certificate is designed to provide additional technical and specialized training for individuals currently employed or seeking employment in the field of Geographic Information Systems.
Coursework and hand-on experience with major GIS and remote sensing software packages, such as ArcGIS and ERDAS IMAGINE, will provide students with a solid foundation in GIS theories and applications necessary for infrastructure management, planning, and business applications.
Individuals who complete the GIS certificate program will have a vast understanding of spatial data, including its different structures and essential properties, principles and methods for data collection and spatial analysis; map design principles and effective cartographic communication; and how to customize GIS software to meet organizational needs.
The GIS graduate certificate is also offered in coordination with the MS in Geographic Information Systems.
