STAFF Welcome to Sam Houston Press & Copy Center. We are
here to assist you in all of your printing and copying
needs. We have been serving the University community for
over 36 years and as our mission statement declares, "we
are here to serve the administration, faculty, staff, and
students of Sam Houston State University by offering an
in-house printing facility and copy center and by providing
quality printing at an economical price and with an efficient
timeline." Student organizations are also welcome
to use our services. My staff is dedicated to providing
year-round service for the University community. We offer
black/white and color copying, binding, fax and printing
services from simple one-color printed pieces to multi-color
brochures and books on a variety of paper stocks. If we can assist you with any of your printing needs
or if you'd like to arrange a tour of our facility, please
contact us. Thanks for allowing us to produce your printing
and copying needs.

Bob graduated from Sam Houston
State University in 1973 with a major in printing
management. As a junior, he began working for
The Huntsville Item, and upon receiving
his degree became production manager, a job
he held for 5 years. Bob moved to College Station
in 1978, where for 9 years he managed Texas
A&M University's in-house printing and copying
facility. Afterwards, he created a printing
company in Austin, which he owned and operated
for 14 years. Briefly, before returning to SHSU,
Bob worked in sales at Lithoprint in Austin,
and at Champagne Printing (Cenveo) in Houston.
He and his wife, Julie, have a daughter Renee,
who is married and living in Round Rock and
their son Eric is currently in the Coast Guard.

Chas is originally
from Mexia, Texas. He received his BS in printing
management from SHSU in 1976. He worked in the
private printing sector from 1973 until he became
the director of the Press in August of 1989.
In 1996 Chas was voted Employee of the Year
by his peers. In
May 2004 he stepped down as director to spend
more time with his family. He assumed the position
of Assistant Director of Sam Houston Press in
August, 2004. Charles is actively involved in
the Huntsville Lions Club and enjoys all sports
and RVing with his family. |

Lori was born
and raised in Huntsville. She graduated
from SHSU in August '99 with a BA in General
Business Administration. Graduation was
followed by having back surgery in which the
doctor had to fix the worse double herniated
disk he had seen during his many years of practice.
She moved to Houston upon recovering
from the surgery where she worked as a customer
service representative for about 2 years before
getting married. She then returned to
Huntsville where she began working for M&M
Designs, Inc. as a customer service representative.
During her 4 years of employment she worked
with many well known companies before being
transferred into a newly developed sampling
and testing department. Here she would
test many different fabric for heat transfer
applications/wash test. Later, she took
on the important task of color approvals.
On December 1, 2005, Lori joined the SH Press
& Copy Center as an Administrative Technician.
Lori enjoys hanging out with friends, playing
with her 2 dogs (a Siberian Husky - Apache &
a Black Lab - Mindy), going motorcycle riding
with her husband, watching sports (especially
the ASTROS & Dallas Cowboys!!!) |

Jessica graduated
from The Maryland Institute College of Art with
a BFA in Illustration. She moved back
to Huntsville after graduation to be closer
to her family. In October 2004, she became
a member of the Sam Houston Press staff.
Jessica currently lives in a little blue house
in the woods with her husband Steve and their
2 pugs Sonic and Sony and their third fuzzy
child Sambuca who was found in a gutter.
She enjoys drawing, reading, gardening, playing
poker, going on hikes, kayaking, hanging out
with her very few friends, watching movies,
doing yoga, eating, learning new things, camping,
backpacking, and snuggling with her dogs.
She accepts donations of chocolate chip cookies!!!!

"Rick" Carpenter, Jr.

Rick was born
in Virginia in 1960, and grew up in Columbia,
South Carolina, where he graduated from Columbia
High School. In 1978, he left to attend Sam
Houston State University and graduated with
a Bachelor of Science in Printing Management
degree in 1982. He married the former Denise
Ann Denson of Houston, Texas in August 1982.
Denise also graduated from SHSU in 1982, with
a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Rick took a job at Sam Houston Press & Copy
Center, then known as Graphic Arts Production,
in the Bindery department in 1984, moving into
the Pre-Press department in 1986 where he has
worked since. Denise has been teaching at Huntsville
ISDs Alternative School since August 2000. They
have two children, Sean Patrick Carpenter, born
in July 1986, and Kerri Ann Carpenter, born
in June 1988. Both children are involved in
school and church activities and youth sports.
Rick's and Denise's interests are church activities
and youth sports. |

Mike is originally
from Dallas, Texas. He began his career with
the Press in 1996 and has 20 years experience
in small press printing. He majored in business
and minored in art while attending school in
Tyler. Mike's hobbies include fishing and talking
about it! |
Tim Tyler
Press Operator

Tim has 2 children
and resides in Weldon. He was raised in the
Piney Woods of East Texas with 3 brothers and
2 sisters. He graduated from Magnolia ISD in
1977 and pursued a career in the steel industry.
Tim then went into the oil business before coming
to SHSU in 1989. His interests and hobbies include
bow hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, camping,
and just about anything to do with the "outdoors".
Tim's retirement plans are to eventually build
a cabin in the mountains and live off of the
land. |

Janis has 25 years
experience in the printing industry, almost
24 of which have been here at SHSU. She is responsible
for overseeing the Copy Center, a high volume,
fast paced operation dedicated to meeting all
the quick-print and digital needs of the faculty,
staff, and students. She is married with
a daughter who lives in Austin and two sons
who attend HHS and play varsity soccer. |

Stuart was born
in Houston, Texas. He worked in the printing
industry in Houston, Texas for 26 years, before
joining the SHSU Press in September 2006.
