| Tree of Light Ceremony |
The 86th Annual Tree of Light Ceremony is November 30th at 6 p.m. in the LSC Mall Area. Every year since 1920, students, faculty, and staff gather to brighten up our campus and kick off the holiday season. The ceremony includes the lighting of a tree in the Mall Area, decorated with beautiful lights and ornaments made by student organizations, hot chocolate, and some holiday singing. This is also a great chance to give back to the community by bringing canned goods and other nonperishable food items to be donated to the Good Shepherd Mission. It is right before finals start and is a great way to relax and put yourself in a cheerful holiday mood! So don't be a Scrooge, come check out the 86th Annual Tree of Light Ceremony! | SAM 136 Students Get Involved |
In October, students from three SAM 136 classes volunteered to help drudge the historic ‘Duck Pond' at the Sam Houston Museum. SAM 136 students have also been helping to register voters as well as distributing election information for the November election in hopes to get more college students to participate. They have also helped at the Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter. Students in these classes are participating in service learning to help in the community, as well as motivate them to volunteer later on in life.
