Foreign Languages Degrees
The program
in Foreign Languages at Sam Houston State University offers the
B.A. degree in French, German or Spanish. Students may minor in

Information for FOL Majors
1) A ten-minute target-language presentation on a topic of the student's choice to the FOL public, followed by a ten-minute target-language question-and-answer period. Will be evaluated in writing by at least three FOL faculty present according to ACTFL Standards for outcomes/statistical purposes. Each student will choose a faculty advisor/coach for the presentation preparation. Presentation may be "double-dipped" with a presentation in a class with the advisor/coach.
2) A three-item, graded, portfolio of assignments and/or exams and/or papers in the target language from upper-number classes they have taken through FOL. Will be evaluated by at least three FOL faculty according to ACTFL Standards for outcomes/statistical purposes.
3) An on-line, anonymous, exit interview in English about their undergraduate experience with FOL. Combined results will be reviewed by all FOL faculty according to ACTFL Standards for outcomes/statistical purposes.
4) A ACTFL OPI, and/or other testing as required of Spanish major/SED minor (teaching only), by the state of Texas, either on-line or by FOL faculty.
