Financial Aid Options for Graduate Students
- FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid: apply at www.fafsa.ed.gov
- Direct Loans – Unsubsidized
- State Grants – Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)
- Private/Alternative loans – contact the lender of your choice
- Scholarships – initiated by student
Award Eligibility
- Graduate Students are eligible for up to $20,500.00 in Direct Loans per year.
- May not exceed Aggregate Limit - $138,500.
- State Grants – TPEG (Texas Public Education Grant) must meet priority deadline and have “need”
Eligibility Requirements for State and Federal Financial Aid
- FAFSA must be successfully received and all missing Financial Aid documents completed
- Student must be regularly admitted (without condition) to Graduate Program
- Student must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 hrs)
- Student must be in compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
Conditionally Accepted Students
- Do not qualify for Federal or State aid until regularly accepted
- May apply for a private/alternative loan that does not require the student to be in a “degree-seeking program”
- May contact the Financial Aid Office when regularly accepted to be considered for Federal/State aid
