directly related to an individual's professional development,
the courses are frequently paid for by the participant's
organization.
Texas
Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program
- An Overview
The
Texas CPM program is part of the national CPM program
that accredits high quality professional development
for government and not-for-profit managers. A CPM certificate
is awarded to public sector managers that complete the
prescribed course of study. The CPM program is endorsed
by the CENTEX Chapter of the American Society for Public
Administration (ASPA) and has been approved for continuing
education credit by the County Commissioners Education
Committee as mandated by State law; by the Texas Commission
on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCLEOSE),
and by the Texas State Board of Accountancy. Under certain
conditions, CPM completion may earn up to six hours
of academic credit. Completion of the Texas CPM program
provides membership in the Texas Society of Certified
Public Managers and the American Academy of Certified
Public Managers. This certification is widely accepted
by federal, state and local governments as evidence
of professional preparation and accomplishment.
