Cake Decorating

This beginning course will teach you how to ice and decorate cakes with flowers and borders, such as chocolate leaves and basket weave techniques.  This course focuses on special occasion cakes.  You will also learn how to make other desserts such as pies and cookies.  High tea will be served on the last day of the course. Bridge I

 

This class is for beginning bridge players who need a refresher course on bridge basics.  The course includes a review of Notrump Opening Bids and Responses, Major Suit Opening Bids and Responses, and Minor Suit Opening Bids and Responses.  A $15 charge for lesson materials will be collected at the first class.  (20 contact hours)

Intermediate Bridge III

Topics for this class are: Preempts (including Weak 2 bids) and partner's response to Preempts, Stayman, Slam Bidding, Finesses, and Card Combinations. Both declarer play and defensive card play will be covered. Students will have the opportunity to play several hands during each lesson. Each student will receive a notebook and handouts will be $10 which will be collected by the instructor at the first class meeting.

Bridge Workshop I - Hand Evaluation

This workshop will help you develop your skills in evaluating your hand for opening the bidding, responding to your partner's opening bids, the importance of a suit fit, honor cards in your suits, misfit hands, and when the opponents compete. Beginning Yoga

Beginning Drawing

This course will introduce students to the basis of freehand drawing using various media.  Students will learn how perspective, line and value create the illusion of volume and space within art works.  Students have the opportunity to create several drawings during the course of the class.  At the end of the course, the students and the instructor will meet for a final "critique" of the completed work.  come and join us for an exploration of your inner self.  Art is life transforming!!

Sign Language I

The fundamentals and structure of ASL are studied in this course through demonstration and practice.  The student will learn to have a receptive and expressive skill of sign language, recognize and reproduce the manual alphabet, have numerical knowledge of sign language, (i.e. counting, money, etc) and be able to converse through sign language. (16 contact hours)

Basic Floral Design

This course is a study of basic retail floral design. Along with relevant design principles and elements, students receive an introduction to the practical training required in the design and construction of a wide variety of geometric and contemporary floral arrangements. Landscape Design

This course promotes an understanding of the design principles used by professional designers. The objective of this course is to provide participants with a structured plan of action from examining their existing physical properties to planning and implementation with simple sketch plans. Growing Fruits and Vegetables

 

Learn the basics of growing fruits, vegetables and herbs. Topics include: seed and germination, soil preparation and fertilization, composting, mulches, disease, insect and weed control, processing and storage. Techniques include: transplanting, companion planting, raised beds, resistant varieties, and crop rotation. Participants will be sowing seeds for transplant in their home gardens. Basic Horticulture

Horticulture is a complex field which encompasses the cultivation of flowers and ornamental shrubs and trees, plus fruits and vegetables. This course is an introduction to basic concepts, principles, and practices of horticulture. Students will examine how plants grow and interact with the environment, plant propagation, soils and nutrition, pruning techniques, and landscape installation and establishment.
