Full-Time Enrollment

For purposes of financial aid and employment, full-time graduate enrollment status is defined as follows:

Graduate Assistant: Six credit hours minimum
All Others: Nine credit hours minimum (six hours during the summer)

Graduate assistants must be full-time students during the fall and spring, when they hold the assistantship.

Because the graduate assistantship is available only during the fall and spring, the full-time enrollment requirement does not apply to graduate assistants during the summer.

Continuous Enrollment

In order to maintain good standing in the English MA Program, a student must be enrolled continuously in at least three credit hours. (Enrollment in one or both of the summer terms counts as continuous enrollment.)

If the student drops out for a period of time, she or he must submit a Reinstatement Application to the Graduate Studies Office in order to enroll again in classes. The student is still bound to finish the degree within six years from the first term of enrollment.

Important note for thesis students: Once having registered for ENG 699, you must enroll continuously in this course until you complete the thesis. If you begin in ENG 699 and then withdraw from the program for any amount of time, with the thesis incomplete (open as an IP), when you reenroll in ENG 699 to complete the project you will be required to pay back-tuition for those semesters during which you were absent.
