Library Carrels

English graduate students spend many, many hours in the library: English graduate students spend many, many hours in the library: English graduate students spend many, many hours in the library. Given this certainty, you may wish to secure a study carrel (small study cove) for yourself. Newton Gresham Library makes carrels available to graduate students; if you are interested in using one, check with the Library Circulation Desk (936-294-1618) for details. You’ll find a wonderful refuge for quiet studying, and you’ll save yourself much hauling of books.

The Association of English Graduate Students

Graduate study can sometimes be an alienating experience, especially at a school at which so many of the grad students commute to classes and attend two campuses. In the past, a graduate student organization, the Association of English Graduate Students, has sponsored activities designed to bring students together socially and academically. Alas, in the past few years the organization has dissolved for lack of energy and ambition. So if any graduate students are interested in resurrecting the organization, please contact the Director of Graduate Studies in English: GraduateEnglish@shsu.edu   or   eng_pwc@shsu.edu.
