The graduate creative writing emphasis at Sam Houston State University, an important component of the English MA Program, produces students with balanced creative, critical, and professional credentials that will enable them to enter into a writing and/or editing profession or to pursue a terminal degree in creative writing (MFA or PhD). Aside from fulfilling Course Block requirements, students pursuing the creative writing emphasis take two workshops in fiction and/or poetry and serve as interns on the staff of The Texas Review Press.
