Sam Houston's Fraternities and Sororities

Kappa Delta Sorority gone. Unfortunately, the Kappa Delta sorority, which has been on our campus since 1960 and was a local women's society before that for many years, lost their charter this summer. No one is quite sure what the circumstances are, but that leaves only four sororities at SHSU: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, and Zeta Tau Alpha. Apparently there are two women's groups which might leaves only four sororities at SHSU: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, and Zeta Tau Alpha. Apparently there are two women's groups which might be interested in forming a sorority, but the process is very different from fraternities. So we'll have to wait and see. (8/17/95)

Fraternities at Sam Houston. Speaking of greeks on SHSU's campus, in case you haven't been around for a while, there are now twelve fraternities. The oldest---Sigma Chi, Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Kappa Alpha, and Alpha Tau Omega (which was recently re-chartered)---have been joined by Sigma Tau Gamma, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Theta Chi, Phi Delta Theta, and most recently, Sigma Nu. During the years from 1961, Sam Houston had chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Delta Sigma Phi, but they have been gone a long time. (2/23/96)
