"I can't really explain brotherhood, yet I know distinctly what it is. The
first few weeks I was unsure how this semester would shake out. Meeting other
young men so different in every aspect of life and they wanted us to become
"brothers." I was really unsure that I would become best friends with these
guys like [the actives] said I would. Now in my pledge class was a guy I hated
in high school; now we are best friends. . .Several of my pledge brothers have
suffered many trying times with family, school, girls, etc., and watching the
way the rest of us pick that person up every time he falls down blows me
away. . . .When I look at brotherhood I see my pledge class distinctly, and
when I look at my pledge class I see Brotherhood. A wise man once said: "If
you fall down six times, stand up seven." Sometimes when people fall down
then need a little help from their Brothers!"
