Welcome
Mandated by the Texas legislature in the 1980's, field experiences place SHSU teacher candidates (pre-service teachers) in accredited public school campuses in school districts that are members of the Sam Houston Innovative Partnerships with Schools (SHIPS). Targeted, sequential, diverse field experiences provide our teacher candidates the unique opportunity to observe and work with children at the Elementary, Middle School, and Secondary levels in Texas public schools.
