Fall 2008 SPD 460/480 Applications - opens 04/05/08 at 8:00 a.m.

  • You must apply online. The online application is located under SamWeb.

Fall 2008 Literacy Block (RDG 370/380/390) - opens 04/05/08 at 8:00 a.m.

  • You must apply online. The online application is located under SamWeb (Student Records-Literacy Block Application).
  • Review the class schedule online for section preferances.
  • It is not recommended for students to take classes that occur on the same day as Reading Block classes.

Qualifications for Literacy Block (formerly Reading Block)

Requirements: 

  1. Regular Admission status for Educator Preparation Program (Check SamWeb and view Ed Prep check list)  Contact Kim McLerran 936.294.1045 for additional information.
  2. Grade of "C" or above in EED 374 and SPD 231.
  3. GPA 2.50
  4. Completion of 85 hours.
  5. Completion of all 100 level coursework .
  6. Official DARS degree plan on file.

 Before applying to the Literacy Block, we recommend the following:

  • Schedule an appointment with an advisor to verify that you are ready for Literacy Block.

  • Review the schedule of classes for RDG 370, RDG 380, & RDG 390 to determine the section that best fits your schedule. Please pay particular attention to the note section where the designations for your certification area. ex EC-4 or 4-8 .

  • Do not take classes the same day as Literacy Block.

  • Do not take more than 2 courses with Literacy Block.

  • If you have met all the above requirements you should be approved for Literacy Block and if at all possible you will be approved for that specific section.  You will receive an email when you are approved, so please register for the Literacy Block classes as soon as you receive notification.

 **All Students under the New EC-6 Plan will need to register for ESL 314 along with the Literacy Block classes**
