Educational Specializations in Bilingual, Early Childhood, Reading and Special Education

The Department of Language, Literacy and Special Populations, located within the College of Education, consists of four distinct, but integrated programs. These four programs are: Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language Education (ESL); Early Childhood Education; Reading; and Special Education.
Students seeking to be certified to teach at the elementary and/or secondary level take courses in these programs. All graduate students seeking to expand their certification areas or earn a Master of Education degree take courses through these programs.
