The 30 hr M. A. degree in Instructional Leadership at Sam Houston State University is available for students wishing to concentrate in areas related to higher education.One such area of concentration is a 15 semester-hour certification program in Academic Advising through the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling. This certification program is designed for the beginner and experienced academic advisor, in both community colleges and senior institutions. It is also designed for individuals who have supervisory or leadership responsibilities for academic advising.
The purpose of the certification in Academic Advising is to provide enhanced credentialing and training for academic advising professionals that have specific relevance to the field of academic advising.
