Guidelines

The Graduate Research Journal(GRJ) is an open access,on-line publication of the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Sam Houston State University. The Graduate Research Journal is designed to provide a venue for doctoral students,nationally and internationally,in graduate programs to submit manuscripts dealing with an area of research relevant to scholars and practitioners.The GRJ is most intrested in manuscripts in counselor education,counseling,and educational leadership-K12 and Higher Education;authors are encouraged to align to one of the following categories: (a) best practices in K-12 public education, (b) best practices in 2-year and 4-year higher education, (c)best practices in counseling or counselor education, (d) empirically-based studies focusing on current and emerging issues in K12 or in counseling or counselor education; and/or (e) empirically-based studies focusing on current and emerging trends in 2-year and 4-year higher education. The intent of the GRJ is to publish studies resulting from doctoral research efforts;however,consideration will also be given to master's research and theses that are of merit or that may fit into one of the categories related to counseling or educational leadership.

The Graduate Research Journal is published online twice each year - January and June

Submission deadlines and guidelines:

Deadline for January issue is September 1 and March 1 for June issue.

Please submit 3 electronic copies of the manuscript via e-mail in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect format. Copies of the manuscript should include a cover page that contains the title o fthe manuscript, author's name, address, affiliated institution, and telephone number. In addition, please submit an abstract, no longer than 250 words, attached to the cover page.Manuscripts should not exceed 3500 words.No identifying information should appear in the manuscript. Manuscript and abstract should conform to the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. All submissions should be in 12 point size, double-spaced with 1 inch bottom and 1.25 inch left and bottom margins.
