EC-6 Generalist Test Prep Options

To be highly qualified for elementary grades, teachers certified as 4-8 Math, 4-8 Math-Science, 4-8 English Language Arts Reading-Social Studies, or EC-12 Special Education are now required to take and pass a generalist exam. Since this new federal requirement affects Sam Houston State University graduates and some current students, three optional preparation activities will be available to prepare graduates/candidates for taking the EC-6 Generalist Examination.

Option 1: An online graduate level class is available during Summer I 2010. Application to graduate school is required to take this course. ($20 Standard Application Fee) Graduate Program Information After being accepted into a selected degree program, candidates should register for RDG 587.02 CID# 7853.

Option 2: A one-week workshop focused on test preparation is offered to current students and 4-8 Texas certified teachers June 7th through June 11th.

Option 3: A one-week workshop, with independent assignments of graduate-level work will also be offered June 7th through June 11th. Application to graduate school is required to take this course. ($20 Standard Application Fee) Graduate Program Information After being accepted into a selected degree program, candidates should register for RDG 587.01 CID# 7369.
